Web site hosting involves storing your web site on one of our state-of-the-art servers, allowing the world to view your site on the World Wide Web.

Essentially, a server is a high speed computer which can process requests from the World Wide Web community and serve requested pages to other computers. When remote users on the World Wide Web type in your web site address (URL), the server will transmit the contents of your home page to the requesting computer.

Typically, web servers are high speed Pentium machines running under the Microsoft NT platform. They are connected to the backbone of the internet using a high speed communication line (usually a T1 or T3 line). All data on our servers is regularly backed up. In addition, we constantly monitor the speed and capacity of our servers to ensure immediate response.

Through this configuration, anyone connected to the internet can access your web site. With the millions of web sites available however, one may ask a good question, how will anyone find my site? That is where search engines and directories come into play as we shall find out next.
